Snus is finely ground tobacco that is placed in small packets. Unlike chaw, it doesn’t require spitting. Snus also contains fewer toxins than chewing tobacco.
Makers of snus insist that the product is far safer than cigarettes because there is no smoke. Ideally, snus can be used to wean people off of cigarettes.
There is concern that instead of helping users quit smoking; it encourages them to use both snus and cigarettes. Makers of Snus have been criticized for selling the fact that you can use snus indoors while working or on transit, thereby giving users the chance to get a nicotine fix in non-smoking areas.
